Real needs, tailored solutions: Developing customized online professional development programs for teachers—A case study
I'm pleased to present my recent publication in the Journal of Digital Learning in Teacher Education, focusing on the development and effectiveness of customized online professional development programs for educators. Below is the abstract summarizing key insights and implications. To explore the study fully, please follow the link provided.
Abstract: This instrumental study explores the professional development needs of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instructors and their engagement with asynchronous online professional development (OPD). Conducted through interviews, reflective reports, and a focus group, the study identifies specific factors influencing instructors' participation and highlights characteristics that enhance the effectiveness of OPD programs. Results indicated that limited time for face-to-face PD, flexibility needs, and relevance of content significantly impact instructor engagement. Key features such as flexibility, collaboration, structured facilitation, and applicability directly contributed to the success of OPD initiatives, enhancing reflective practices among educators. These findings offer actionable insights into designing effective OPD programs, underscoring essential components for fostering sustained professional growth.
